Overview
SOMS is looking for an experienced technician in Oman to retube, repair and service shell-and-tube and fin-fan heat exchangers for oil, gas, refinery and industrial clients, including bundle handling, bolting and inspection work.
Key responsibilities
- Retube and repair shell-and-tube and fin-fan exchangers, including tube removal, insertion, expansion and plugging
- Extract and reinstall tube bundles and support hydrotesting
- Perform controlled bolting, torque and hydraulic tensioning and keep torque and inspection records
- Inspect bundles, tubesheets and gaskets and work to drawings, quality procedures and permit rules
Requirements
- Technical diploma or trade certificate in mechanical engineering, fitting or pipefitting
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on heat exchanger retubing and maintenance experience in oil, gas, refinery, power or industry
- Skills in tube extraction and expansion, bolting and torque control
- Ability to read drawings and knowledge of lifting and rigging
