Overview
Larsen & Toubro's Sohar fabrication yard is looking for a welding engineer to own welding procedures, welder qualification and weld quality. The engineer will also drive productivity and cost improvements in welding processes.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review WPS and PQR to ASME IX, AWS D1.1 and API codes
- Plan welder qualification tests and maintain records
- Control welding consumables and their storage
- Analyse weld defects and reduce repair rates
Requirements
- Degree in mechanical, metallurgical or welding engineering
- Experience in heavy fabrication or offshore yards
- Strong knowledge of welding codes and NDT requirements
- Welding inspector certification is an advantage
